An affordable new build
Intent
This was one of the first homes that there was a clear intention to design for a multigenerational outcome being full aware it had to be a compliant solution, while also suiting the needs of the different generations.
This home was using the concept of an attached relatives apartment to provide a solution to having the grandmother live close, but have there own sense of place and space.
This design uses the laundry as the internal point of coming together.
Pro’s and Cons
Pro’s
- Freehold Title
- Design with the end user in mind
- Affordable for both parties
Cons
- Doesn’t have a mutual place to build group connection, still mine and yours
- Struggles to meet all sustainable design outcomes with a lot of block coverage
- Designed for 2 groups mainly.
