MALANDA, QLD – A successful and insightful introductory session on Collaborative Co-Living was held on Saturday, November 8th, at 42 Ginn Road, Malanda, giving prospective residents a practical look at communal living and the application process for the Ginn Road property and future PeoplePurposePlace homes.

The four-hour session was praised by attendees for its deep dive into the philosophy and practicalities of this unique living model, proving an invaluable first step for those considering becoming residents soon or in the future.
A key highlight of the day was the segment on group communication, grounded in Nonviolent Communication (NVC) principles. Participants learned practical tools for conflict resolution and decision-making—skills essential for successful co-tenancy.
“The communication training was a game-changer,” commented one participant. “It wasn’t just about the house; it was about building the skills to live together and resolve things with respect and genuine care. I feel much more prepared for the ‘Hard to get in’ part of the process, knowing the group is serious about a healthy environment.”
The session clearly outlined the rigorous application pathway, a process described by the organisation as: “Hard to get in; Easy to get out!” This philosophy ensures a committed, cohesive initial group while offering flexibility should a resident’s situation change. The structure, which involves successful applicants entering contracts as co-tenants with shared responsibilities under Residential Tenancies Authority (RTA) regulations, was thoroughly explained.
“I appreciated the honesty,” said a prospective applicant. “The ‘Easy to get out’ policy is a huge relief, showing they understand life evolves, but the strict entry process makes sure everyone who joins is truly dedicated to the collaborative work. It feels ‘Safe enough for now; Good enough to try!’ is a perfect motto.“
PeoplePurposePlace is committed to harnessing the wisdom of all involved, working together to create living situations that not only endure but truly thrive. Details regarding the next steps in the application process were distributed to all participants.
