PeoplePurposePlace yesterday was faced with having to announce a revised timeline for the completion of its flagship Collaborative Co-Living project on Ginn Road, Malanda.
The anticipated move-in date for the first residents has been adjusted from the original November 28th date to the last week of January 2026.
This timeline shift is due to unforeseen delays encountered during the final phase of construction, fit-out, and final checks.
It reflects a commitment to delivering a fully finished, safe, and high-quality home base that aligns with the project’s long-term vision of a sustainable, nurturing living environment.

“While we deeply regret the change from the original November date, the priority remains delivering a high-quality, long-lasting home for our future residents,” said Jana Mueller, local Ambassador for PeoplePurposePlace. “This adjustment allows our construction team the necessary time to finalise the property with the meticulous attention to detail required to support our standards and our collaborative living model.”
Tradies are in short supply. The word on the street is that the Tablelands is not only not educating enough tradies for present needs; there is also a solid trickle of southern migration of qualified professionals in the building industry to South East Queensland, where they can attract big money in the big smoke.
The PeoplePurposePlace team and its construction partners are diligently working towards the new January completion target to ensure the property meets the standards expected by prospective residents and the broader community.
The organisation will be communicating directly with prospective residents regarding the scheduling of individual interviews and application updates in light of the new timeline.
Christine Doan, intrepid first investor and now disappointed owner of the Ginn Rd pilot project, says, “I feel absolutely gutted by this last-minute realisation that the building at Ginn Rd cannot be completed in time. Postponement feels like a failure—so close and yet so far! I hate disappointing our potential residents. I’m trying to look on the bright side, as this delay does give more time for others to learn about this innovative project and to apply.”
