We are a group of professionals who have been working in the housing space for several decades. From our individual perspectives of angel investor, builder, developer, town planner, accountant, co-housing researcher, building consultant, council administrator and building materials manufacturer, we have all reached the same conclusion that current housing is not serving the humans.

I believe that houses should do more than shelter individuals from the elements. They should be homes where human relations are encouraged to thrive!.

We all need a safe place to call home. Unfortunately, our homes are often unsafe – and a common reason is poor indoor air quality. Most of our exposure to pollutants that harm our health occurs indoors. But problems can often be remedied and prevented. I care about making healthy housing and indoor environments so people feel their home can be a safe place, a sanctuary.

“Fundamentally, it’s about relationships. We know that quality relationships predict happiness. That probably doesn’t come as a surprise, but we also now know that quality relationships predict ‘healthiness’ – how long we live and the course of illness and disease in our lives. The fact that the People Purpose Place model prioritises a process to enhance human interactions is what will set this apart from other efforts around housing for at-risk groups. That’s a natural fit for me and something I can get behind wholeheartedly.”

Sadly, Tom Ballard (2022) appears to have got it right, in his book “I, Millennial: One Snowflake’s Screed Against Boomers, Billionaires & Everything Else”, when he said; “Remember: houses are homes for money, not for people”.

We also all agree, however, that using the existing mechanisms, right now, today there is a better way!
About us People Purpose Place??
We care about the human outcomes…
We believe that, using the existing system, in a compliant way, the People Purpose Place process presents an opportunity to achieve a greater range of housing solutions, including;
- for people who are currently excluded, to achieve that connection that we call a home;
- for DV victims to have a safe, secure, stable alternative to remaining in the household of abuse;
- for safe, secure, stable accommodation for older women who are the fastest growing group to experience homelessness in Australia;
- for us, as a community to achieve the recommendation of the Royal Commission into Aged Care in Australia, for small house scale solutions to support the elderly, as an alternative to institutionalised care;
- for investors to invest in a socially conscious produce and achieve an above market yield from their existing housing investments.
We pledge to do this work because we believe that we can improve our society specifically by reducing the incidence of adult Depression.
We are currently the second highest incidence of depression in the world!!
